CULT Food Science Subsidiary Further Foods Announces Imminent FDA Trial Design for Cultivated Chicken in Dog Food

Further Foods, a subsidiary of cell-based meat firm Cult Food Science, has submitted a feeding trial design to the FDA for its first-of-its-kind study to scientifically validate cultivated chicken in dog food.

The 26-week, minimally invasive feeding study will involve a minimum of 8-10 dogs receiving one of three diets: cultivated chicken, traditional chicken, or a control diet.

The study aims to demonstrate the safety and nutritional equivalence of cultivated chicken to traditional chicken in dogs, paving the way for the commercialization of cultivated meat in the pet food industry.

"This is a major milestone for Further Foods and the cultivated meat industry as a whole," said Mitchell Scott, CEO of Cult Food Science. "The FDA's review of our feeding trial design is a critical step towards bringing cultivated chicken to market and making a significant impact on the sustainability and ethical challenges of traditional meat production."

The study is expected to be completed in 2025, with results expected to be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
