A Federal Judge Sides with A&E in a Copyright Infringement Case
The Ongoing Battle Over 'On Patrol: Live'
Last August, after the launch of "On Patrol: Live" on A&E, the network sued Big Fish Entertainment for copyright infringement. A federal judge has now ruled in A&E's favor, confirming that the network holds the copyright to the show.
The suit, which was first filed in the summer of 2022, alleged that Reelz's "On Patrol: Live" was essentially a carbon copy of A&E's show. Both programs feature live footage of police officers on patrol, and both use the same format and style.
Reelz has since pulled the plug on its version of "On Patrol: Live," but the lawsuit is still ongoing. A&E is seeking damages for the alleged copyright infringement, and the case is expected to go to trial later this year.

Following the judge's ruling, Reelz issued a statement saying that it "respects the court's decision" and that it "will continue to focus on creating original and compelling content for our viewers."
