The eyes of the footballing world were on Munich on Tuesday as Bayern played their Champions League semi-final first leg against Real. Alphonso Davies put Bayern in front but the hosts found another late fightback to book a Champions League final with Dortmund.
Davies opened the scoring for Bayern in the 10th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Real. The goal gave Bayern a much-needed cushion, but Real slowly started to claw their way back into the game.
Karim Benzema equalized for Real in the 26th minute, heading home a cross from Toni Kroos. The goal gave Real a lifeline and they continued to push for a second goal.
Their efforts paid off in the 55th minute when Vinicius Jr. put Real ahead. The young Brazilian forward controlled a long pass from Luka Modric and fired a shot past Manuel Neuer into the bottom corner.
Bayern pushed for an equalizer but Real held on to their lead, securing a 2-1 victory. The win gives Real a slight advantage heading into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
The Champions League final will be played on June 28th at the Borrusia Dortmund Stadium.
