Villarreal Stun Bayern Munich to Reach Champions League Semi-Finals
Late Goal from Chukwueze Seals Dramatic Victory
Holders Real Madrid and English Premier League leaders Manchester City will face off in the other semi-final
Unai Emery's Villarreal stunned Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2006. Samuel Chukwueze scored a late winner in the tie as the Spanish side secured a famous 2-1 aggregate victory over the German giants.
Bayern had dominated the first leg in Munich but failed to find a way past Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli. The Spanish side were more clinical in the second leg, with Gerard Moreno opening the scoring in the first half. Bayern levelled through Robert Lewandowski in the second half, but Chukwueze's late strike sealed the win for Villarreal.
Villarreal will now face Real Madrid in the semi-finals, while Bayern will take on Manchester City. The first legs of the semi-finals will be played on April 26/27, with the second legs taking place on May 3/4.
